Int Ent agrees new US$9mln construction contract with local firm for its Manila Bay casino hotel

International Entertainment Corp, the Hong Kong-listed controller of the New Coast Hotel Manila (pictured in a file photo), a Manila Bay casino hotel currently being promoted as “LaVie Resort & Casino Manila”, says a subsidiary is spending circa PHP566.95 million (US$9.2 million) on new construction work there.

It will take the value of contracts issued to the local contractor Kimberland Construction Inc since February last year to PHP3.09 billion.

The new work is due to be completed by year-end. It involves “designing, constructing, furnishing and demolishment in relation to façade lighting, LED screen for Pedro Gil canopy, exterior window glass replacement and exterior area landscape of certain floors of the hotel,” per a Thursday filing to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Also included in the contract is renovation work “including walls finishes, ceilings and floors finishes, fixture cabinets and chandeliers, air-cons, electricity systems, plumbing systems, fire-protection systems of the guest rooms and common areas on certain floors the hotel”.

The complex has a provisional casino gaming licence from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor). International Entertainment has pledged to invest at least US$1 billion to redevelop the property as an integrated resort, under the terms of its licence.

The same construction firm was involved with phase one construction at a contract price of PHP1.47 billion agreed in February 2025, and with phase two construction at a contract price of PHP1.05 billion, agreed in May 2025.

The new contract – as with the others – is with New Coast Leisure, Inc, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of International Entertainment Corp.

In February, International Entertainment said it planned a “grand reopening” of the property in July.

International Entertainment has a HKD1.60-billion (US$204.2-million) convertible note agreement with Philippines-listed online gaming specialist DigiPlus Interactive Corp, which – if fully converted – would result in DigiPlus holding a 53.89-percent stake in International Entertainment.
